   That's incorrect concerning the Macintosh 128 mouse. Though your right  
the Mac keyboard with its obscure RJ-11 phone jack connector will not.

   With an Apple IIe Mouse interface card, you _can_ connect up any
old style Macintosh mice (with DB9 connector) to a IIgs. Simply plug 
the card into slot 4 and set the Control Panel for that slot to
'Your Card'. I recall it being more usable on a ROM 01 than the ROM 3
(GS/OS won't recognize it in the latter case) but there is really little 
point in doing this.  It would be as redundant as installing a Disk II 
controller, Super Serial Card or other cards which function is already 
built-in.
