A more accurate montary value for an Apple IIe CPU would be your above
figure, minus the last three zero digits (US$15, not $15,000!). This model
of the Apple II family line is probably the most common, having sold in one
form or another, from January 1983 until November 1993. In fact it's quite
common to find this machine, still in use, at K-12 educational institutes. I
have four in my own collection alone, two of which I rescued from the trash.
Actually, at present, no Apple II model is worth anywhere near your
quoted figure. Perhaps in several decades from now, when they've become
rare and history recognizes the Apple II as the "father" of the personal
computer industry, they'll be worth something. Obviously you've confused
the Apple IIe with the "Apple I". That computer-kit that Steve Wozinak
and Steve Jobs sold in 1976 (only 200 were made) is worth a sum close to
your figure. I generally hear between $10,000 and $25,000, depending
on it's condition and the collector.
