I've been spreading this info on all the comp.sys newsgroups for anyone
looking for used equipment. Some of the best places to shop are your
local thrift stores (Starvation Army, Goodwill, etc.) We've found all
sorts of good deals at these places. Consoles of various flavors (Atari,
Commodore, and more) for around $2.00 - $3.00, disk drives for about
$2.50, an Imagewriter II printer for $10.00, modems from $1.00 - $2.00
(We paid $1.00 for a Performa 14.4 modem for Karma. Still need to get
the right driver though.)
A couple months ago, when we were still trying to find a joystick for
her, one store had a Franklin ACE 1200 with 2 disk drives, monitor, 80
column card, and joystick all for $14.00. Unfortunately, we waited too
long and when we were finally ready to get it, it was gone. Still, we've
found other joysticks for just a couple bucks apiece, and we can get
Atari compatible controllers (which also work on Commodores and TIs) for
25 cents.

Yes, lotsa good deals to be found at thrift stores, plus, a portion of
your purchase goes to various worthy causes (homeless shelters, food
banks, etc.)

Yerf!
