The going used price for an Apple CD150 over in the Mac forsale groups is $49. 
This drive is supported fully by system 6.0.1 in addition to costing about as
much as the average Apple II CD. I'd say you don't have to be wealthy to have
a CD on your IIgs. You could probably get $49 worth of use playing audio CDs.
Of course, it would be better if CD ROM discs cost less. I'll swap my CD150
onto my IIgs permanently once I replace my Quadra 700 with a new box with a 
built in CD.
