Re: Apple IIc Plus questions
Ken,
I believe that to disable the 4 MHz speed and boot up at 1 MHz on the IIc+
you hold down the 4 key when booting.
The keyboard key is to switch the keyboard layout from QWERTY to DVORAK.
You wouldn't loose compatibility with much by trading up from a IIe/II+,
although you would obviously loose slots for expansion boards. On the
other hand, you get two serial ports, a disk drive port that can support
3.5" Apple drives, Unidisk drives, and 5.25" drives, and a joystick/mouse
port.
The major differences between the IIc+ and the IIc are:
IIc IIc+
=================================================================
1) brick power supply internal power supply
2) 1 MHz processor 4 MHz processor
3) disk port supports disk port supports Apple 3.5"
3.5" Unidisk and 5.25" drives as well as Unidisk and 5.25"
drives
4) not all models have can add extra RAM via memory
expanded memory support board under keyboard
5) Internal 5.25" drive Internal 3.5" drive
hope that's useful
