Using MIDI with Audio Animator

I just installed an AE Audio Animator last night, though it came
without the manual or a complete set of disks. So far, I've been unable
to access it's built-in MIDI feature. Selecting the MIDI sequencer from
the AA software application reports, "Could not initialize MIDI Tools0046".
I've already installed 'Tool032' and tried selecting both 'Card6580.MIDI'
and 'Apple.MIDI' from the MIDI control panel. The error seems to indicate
that a specific file/driver is missing. I've also tried synthLAB and it
doesn't see any MIDI devices either (I've set the slot the card is in,
slot-2, to 'Your Card' before anyone asks).

Am I missing a special driver or have I merely overlooked the obvious?
Incidentally, this is one of the few IIgs products Applied Engineering
did a nice job on. It's nice being able to sample (nearly) distortion-free
digital audio and in true 2-channel stereo in less! (It actually captures
both the left and right channels of your audio source as you digitize).
