Why not use some graphic convertor programs out there to convert stuff like
GIFs, JPEGs, and what not graphics to PPM?  djpeg does this.

Although it is kinda stupid because PPM is a raw-uncompressed (24-bit?)
text-based? format.  Basically, PPM files are HUGE and really a waste of
disk space.  But, they should load very fast being there's no filtering
involved.
