help ?

High all,
i've just met my first apple IIe and i'm totally lost!
(I recently "saw the light" and switched from pc (Pieca Chit!) to a power
mac but now a guy my wife works with wants to get on the net with his IIe
so when my wife, (who thinks all a computer is good for is playing
solitaire!), heard apple, she volunteered me to help.)
needless to say, i DO need help!
(this machine doesn't even have a mouse! i'm lost !!!!!)

what software does he need to get on line?

he says he has a 2400 bps modem for it, is it possible to hook up a "real"
modem?

what kind of web browser can he use?

what other questions should i have asked? (like i said, i'm lost!)

if/when i do find him some software how do i get it to him? he has a 5.25
floppy drive but i have a 3.5 floppy. he suggested i could just print out
the program and he'd enter it himself! i think this sounds insane!!!!!
wouldn't it take a couple weeks to transcribe all that gibberish
accurately? 

please help!!!

he says the system is DOS, so what's the difference between apple dos and
pc dos?

there must be something special about this machine that he won't even
consider buying a new mac. (he's got the money, so what's the story?)
