info on PublishIt 2.0

I have an old copy of PublishIt 2.0 at the elementary school where I
teach.  We now have a DigiCard server, and I'd like to put PublishIt on
it, but my principal is worried about licensing.  We only have a single
copy, not a site license or a network version.

Does anybody know anything about the program?  I don't have it here at
home, so I can't look up the name of the company that published it, but I
did a search earlier this year and couldn't find evidence that the company
still exists.

If the company is out of business, am I free to put the program on our
server?  Or did someone swallow up the company, along with it's
copyrights, and do I have to write them for permission.

Does anybody know anything?
