It sounds like your SpeeDemon is a later model than mine-- it uses
jumper blocks and has no DIP switch. There may have been a number of other
changes. In case no one with a board exactly like yours posts a response,
the following may help:

On my SD, there is a set of five jumper points (ten pins) near the
upper left side of the board. Just one pair is jumpered. When I asked McT
about this, they said it is a factory adjustment and to leave it alone.

There is one other pair of jumper pins near the lower middle of the
board. This is for the "Speed Jumper". The user can jumper these pins to
force SD to slow down for accesses to Slots 4 and 5.

SD always slows down for accesses to Slot 6 (whether or not the Speed
Jumper is in place) because it assumes this is where the user will put
the 5.25" disk controller card.

So, if your DIP switch is just a replacement for the jumpers, two of
the eight switches will be inactive. One switch will be closed for the
"factory adjustment" and one other switch may be closed to act as a Speed
Jumper, unless you have the Speed Jumper pins on your board.

If the Speed Jumper is a switch on the DIP, you may be able to
identify the switch by looking for a line running to a PAL IC near the
lower middle part of the board. One side of the switch should go to GND.
The other side should go to the PAL IC and a 1K resistor.

Again, there is no telling what new features McT may have added. (I
would have liked a jumper to select SD default to OFF on power-up.
Possibly, the newer board includes this mod.)
