As a matter of fact, yes. They are.
I'm using a IIgs with one of Apple's newest Macintosh keyboards (its 4th one!)
and it works just fine. If your friend has a ROM 3, the little caps lock
light will even work. If it is a ROM 01, then you can find a control panel
device that will let it work.
The keyboard is an AppleDesign Keyboard and it runs for about $75 (I think)
