You have run into the limitations of the Apple II text modes.
The vt100 emulation on an Apple II text screen cannot display
multiple text colors, underlined text,.....
ANSITerm for the IIgs provides ANSI terminal emulation via the
SuperHiRes screen and may give you more of what you want.
