I'm not sure about public domain, freeware, or shareware but I do
know that a commercial program called ProTerm 3.1 will do the job.
I use VT100 mode when I access my local ISP.  ProTerm, a ProDOS 8
system program, is among the finest telecommunications packages I've
ever used.  It's solid, fast, and easy to use.
