Apple GS monitor vs 486 VGA healthwise?

My 486 monitor causes verticle lines in my TV with rabbit ears 
twenty feet away in the next room.  The GS monitor causes no distortion 
from the same distance.  The front of the 486 monitor faces the room with 
the TV.  Is the 486 monitor a health risk to someone sitting close (18 
in.)in front of it?  Does the GS have a safer monitor?  Are Apples better 
for you than the Blues? (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)
