Re: The software piracy issue
Hmmm, the biggest problem I've personally experienced with an Apple II (I've
never owned an original II mind you) is aging problems with the keyboard on
the II+. A good cleaning every 5 years or so keeps that in check. Nothing
stands out in any of the other IIs (IIc, IIGS, or IIc+) that I use. As for
space, I keep a IIe on an old microwave oven cart. The shelves come in handy
for disks, printer, 'n stuff. The foot print's not too bad using duo disks
(which fit under the monitor) and a Silent Type printer (which sits on top of
the monitor). I also use a cheapy 20 Mb Focus internal hard drive which helps
keep things clean.
An even smaller machine would be a IIc. My son uses my original IIc with the
same color monitor hooked up to his game center. I knew that old Amdek color
monitor would come in handy :) The system is set up on a small TV cart with
the IIc on a lower shelf. It still plays a mean game of Wizardy, and
Choplifter, Lode Runnder, David's Midnight Majic, Prince of Persia, Airheart,
etc.
Have fun!
