Communications Software?
Oh no... I forgot this rtin uses vi... ugh.
I'm looking for a free downloadable terminal emulation program. I don't
care if the program can handle my Datalink 2400 internal, I do most of
my internetting with my mac (which i'm using to write this). But...
my PowerBook is now equipped with NetBSD, a unix clone. Problem is, it
only works on a powerbook through a serial console (internal powerbook
video and ADB isn't supported). Okay, so I'm using my PowerMac 7100
running ZTerm, but my parents want the mac every now and then....
So, i'm looking for a program that can handle VT100 terminal emulation.
I'd like ZModem, if possible, but I'd even settle for XModem.
Here's the catch: No matter how I try to download programs from apple2.
archive.umich.edu, they come out corrupted. Either BINSCII gives a
CRC error or, after BINSCII gets through with it, Shrinkit opens the
archive and the filenames are all blank and the compression forat column
is all question marks except the uncompressed stuff.
I've even tried downloading binary mode from a mac and copying to an
Apple II disk. I've gone through in appleworks and hand-stripped the
newlines. Nothing. I'm trying the following: colorterm.bsq,
z.link.bsq, and telcom.bsq. Same problem with all of them.
So, what am I missing here? I even tried a direct gopher download
via a unix box, sttraight to xmodem. Nothing.
If anybody has any idea what I can do to solve this problem, or, if
somebody has good copies of the original .shk files and would be
willing to send them (uuencoded or mime attachment or whatever), or
can recommend a site where I can download these files without the
binscii wrapper, I'd appreciate any help you can offer.
TIA,
