- Http: //www.ugcs.caltech.edu/~nathan/apl2.resource.html here's a handy
* comp.sys.apple2 The main Apple II newsgroup. If you're not sure on
where to post something, please post here.
* comp.sys.apple2.marketplace Buying and selling Apple IIs, parts, and
software.
* comp.sys.apple2.programmer Talk related to programming Apple IIs.
Not a place to ask technical questions not related to
programming.
* comp.sys.apple2.gno Information on the GNO 'pre-emptive multitasking
unix-like environment for the Apple IIGS`
* comp.binaries.apple2 New pieces of software, usually in Binscii
(.BSQ) format.
* comp.sys.apple2.usergroups Questions related to usergroups, etc.
Usually pretty dead.
* comp.sources.apple2 Dead, also. Some of us programmer types want to
put some life into it?
* comp.sys.apple2.comm Questions on modems, etc...
* comp.emulators.apple2 Emulating Apple II's, questions related to
emulators and playing really old games.
* alt.emulators.ibmpc.apple2 Older emulator group. Please use
comp.emulators.apple2 instead.
* bit.listserv.apple2-l Obsolete newsgroup. No traffic. Please use
comp.sys.apple2 instead.
Thus, this thread has been moved out of comp.sys.apple2.programmer
and into comp.sys.apple2 and comp.sys.apple2.comm.
To answer your question, you could probably find some modem init
string from Basic, but Basic programs are usually too slow to handle
screen displays. Downloading a free/shareware modem program (ZLink is
supposed to be good), or paying for a darn nice commercial comm
program (ProTERM 3.1) is best.
