Re: Why a Zip Drive?

Richard,

I have both the Zip and EZ, and will be doing a review for an Apple II
publication (exactly which one I'm not sure yet :) Both are decent, but
in terms of performance, the EZ blows the Zip away.

On the other hand, the Zip is more common and if you need to exchange
large files with other people that is a good way to go. The disks _seem_
to be sturdier (but the SyQuest disks are quite sturdy already, i.e. if
the Zip disks get an A in durability, the EZ ones get at least a B.). And
Epson is now making the Zip as well under its own label and had a $50
rebate program going, so the pricing is slightly better for the drive
than the EZ, which has dropped to about $199. . . cartridge prices per meg
are a wash, although the Zip carts may be easier to find.

Bottom line: both are good.
