I'd like to take this opportunity to say how happy I am with
the IBM power supply I got from Steve Buggie. The price was
right, the power supply looks brand new, the wiring job is
first rate, and it solved my long standing mysterious crashes.
Everything about his product is just great. Touches such as
felt on two sides so you can lay it down with the fan up or
sideways without scratching anything is very thoughtful.
I have several things to mention that I have not seen about
this power supply in previous posts.
1. When the power switch was thrown to off on the IIgs power
supply my IIgs died immediately, however, with the IBM power
supply my IIgs continues to function for about two seconds.
This should bridge momentary power glitches for those without
an UPS. A welcome "feature" now that we are into thunderstorm
season.
2. Steve expects users to mount the power supply on the floor
so as to minimize the sound of its fan. I have mine on the desk
behind my IIgs and can't hear a thing over the whooshing of my
Kensington System Saver :-)
Also, this allows me to discharge static electricity by
touching the case on Steve's power supply.
3. While it might have been mentioned before, it bears
restating, "Moving a 60W power supply outside the IIgs or //e
case cannot do anything except help your computer run cooler."
My bottom line on this is that if you have a ton of cards
and/or are experiencing unexplained crashes, Steve's power
supply is a great deal for $32 (including shipping).
Kind Regards,
