Etherwave for IIgs (Farallon's Reply)

I sent an eMail to Farallon TechSup re: the Etherwave PB adapter on the
IIgs.  Here is their reply:

Thanks for your message. The EtherWave Mac Adapter would probably work on
your Apple IIgs but it will have limited features. It is not likely that you
will be able to select anything other than the Localtalk driver. The adapter
comes with an installer that will install an Ethertalk Alternative driver.
Ethertalk Alternative pushes the network connection up above Localtalk speed.
It is not as fast as an Ethernet card but it is faster than Localtalk. This
software was never tested on a IIgs and is likely to have some problems. The
driver requires that you have at least 1 meg of RAM available and be running
System 6.0.5 or higher. I do not know if the IIgs meets these requirements. 
So with the Adapter you would be giving the IIgs access to the Ethernet but
you would be running it at Localtalk speeds. If you want to use TCPIP the
machine would need access to a Ethertalk to IP gateway. Something like a
InterRoute/5, StarRouter, Gatorbox or Fastpath would need to be present on
the Ethernet to act as an IP server. Basically you would be getting the same
type of service that you have now with LocalPath.
