You may find it cheaper to pick up a used ImageII printer in your local
thrift store than replacing the head or repairing it. Take a look at the
pin face and see if a pin is stuck out and causing the ribbon to drag on
the paper..if so take the head off and lay it face down on a paper towel
soaked with 90% alcohol for a hour or so..dont rub it or any thing it can
be damaged very easy..also see if the thickness lever is one click
down..the normal single paper position...is another possibility.
I also spray my ribbons with WD-40 when they start to lighten it does a
two fold job..1 it lets you use the ribbon again..2 it lubricates the
pins in the head of the printer preventing sticking. OBTW open up the
ribbon cartridge and spray the ribbon holding compartment. dont drown it
then place the cartridge in a ziplock bag and let it soak in and keep the
ribbon from drying out..like your other ribbons right.. :))
