Unless you're crunched for RAM (which shouldn't be a serious
problem with DRAM around $27/Mb) the Finder has a few advantages:
If you work with other computers, especially if you're prone to ignoring
your GS for a year here and there, the Finder makes your computer look
and act like a Macintosh, or an Amiga to a lesser degree, which can be
handy.
As a visual learner I sometimes resort to the Finder to locate and move
files because I might remember something as being, "in the center of this
window", or "in a window that's small and near the top right", or
"colored yellow".
