As far as I know, to use it on a IIGS you need either System 6.01 as the
SCSI drivers that come with it will allow you to access CDROMs OK (though
you can't play audio CD's without drivers from Sequential I think), or,
if you have a RAMFast SCSI card it should work fine with that (although
again you'll need drivers available here on the Net somewhere if you want
to play audio CDs).
I stand to becorrected in case I might possibly be incorrect.
