Apple II or Mac?
I have some horror stories about people not knowing the difference between
an Apple II and Mac. One such story:
As a volunteer phone helper of a computer club that supports Apple II and
Mac lines, I received a call from someone who "just picked up his first used
Mac." But he needed help. He couldn't figure out how to get the Mac disks
in the built-in drive. "The drive seems too big" he says. I ask which
model Mac he just bought from someone. "A Mac IIc" he said. "Errr.. 'Mac
IIc'?" I comment. "Do you mean Mac IIci or Mac IIci?" I ask. "No - it says
IIC" right on the case" he responds. After a few more pointed questions to
confirm my thoughts, I say "You must have an Apple IIc". "Yes! Yes!, and
Apple Mac IIc" he responds. It took me a while to convince him, that while
he had what I thought was the best computer Apple ever made for home use, it
wasn't a Mac.
Now, would you like to hear the horror stories of the Mac IIgs?
