Vulcan question
I'm about to do it. I'm about to get a larger hard drive for my IIgs.
At the moment, it looks like I'll be dismembering my Vulcan GS, replacing
its drive with a SCSI drive, and replacing the controller card with an
Apple High Speed SCSI controller. No problem there, certainly.
BUT: There is the problem of the transition. The Vulcan is leaving my
IIgs, but I'd like it to leave the data behind. The question is, can I do
this without cooking my power supply?
What I want to do is use the Vulcan PS to power both its own drive and the
new drive while I transfer the data...new drive in Slot #7 and the Vulcan
in some other slot. Then, once the transfer is complete, I can pull the
old drive and put the system back to normal.
My system normally contains a Video Overlay Card and two floppy drives
(both 3.5" and 5.25"), plus 5.25Mb RAM, but I can yank the VOC and the
external drives while I'm setting up the new HD.
Suggestions or advice welcome! Quickly, please...I may be doing this as
soon as this week-end if I can find a suitable drive locally!
