I have a similar setup in my house. IIGS and ImageWriter in the living room
on first floor, Mac LC III and LaserWriter in bedroom on second floor (along
with connector for PowerBook when it's not on the road). I also have a seccond
IIGS in the basement hooked into this network. The hardest part was finding 
a drill bit long enough to get through the ceiling :)

So yes, this is very doable with phonenet connectors. You get a maximum
of 3000 feet with phonenet.
