The IIgs can only boot from a file server if it is running the full
AppleShare server software (version 2.x or 3.x, not 4.0 or later).
The file sharing support provided by System 7 does not include support
for booting an Apple II over the network.

Provided the network isn't being used for anything else, the transfer
speed is similar to a 3.5" disk. Using System 7's file sharing also
slows things down somewhat. You are much better off using a local
hard drive if you want fast execution.
