The drive is fine, it's acting like it should. The problem is
elsewhere. If the cursor is moving, try making sure the space bar, and
all other keys are actually up. It sounds like one is stuck down.

Also, start up with the solid apple key held down, and see if the self-
test routine works. This will not work on the first version of the 2c,
for that you will ahve to find the apple II system hardware test disk
that is somewhere on line.
