Re: Silentype (Re: Apple Thermal Printer)

heh, heh, I still have two SilenTypes in service (and hording a couple of
cases of paper). One prints out weakly summaries from a II+ I'm using to
track the relative humidity in an optics lab, the other is hooked up to my GS
in my office. I really like it as our office is pretty quiet and an IW-II
makes too much NOISE. The SilenType is nice'n quiet. Of course I can only use
it from BASIC and AppleWorks :) I'm looking at AppleTalking my GS over to our
HP laser and inkjets for fancy stuff.

Anywho, it sounds like your printer needs a good cleaning. I'd take it apart
and clean the slide wires and anything else that moves. Be careful, there's a
plastic piece that connects the metal paper feed rod to the motor that's easy
to break. It's been fixed more than once on both my printers.

Have fun!
