Perhaps, Jim.

As I see it, there are 3 different possible product lines handled by
Shareware Solutions II that could be placed on CD-ROM...the back issues
of Script-Central and Stack-Central/Studio City and the NAUG resource
library.

When Shareware Solutions II first acquired the rights to distribute
Script-Central, lots of folks suggested making a CD-ROM available. To
tell you the truth, I'm a little hesitant to do that because HyperCard
IIGS doesn't lend itself well, IMHO, to being placed on a write-protected
disk due to the fact that HCGS based stacks often write to disk, causing
problems if you place them on a disk that can't be written to.

So, the usefulness of a Script-Central CD-ROM would be, IMHO, limited.
Instead of being able to run the stacks directly from the CD, they'd have
to be copied to a hard drive before they could be run. So, a
Script-Central CD-ROM could only merely serve as an archive.

Stack-Central/Studio City is another story, and those 30 issues (60 3.5"
disks = 48 megabytes) might be ideally suited for CD-ROM...however, that
still leaves 600 megabytes of free space on the disk. Would people buy a
CD-ROM that is mostly empty? I dunno.

The NAUG library contains 400+ disks of AppleWorks materials, and there
are an additional 60 disks of NAUG-On-Disk. Shareware Solutions II is
distributing those materials on 5.25" and 3.5" disk, but my legal
contract with the NAUG copyright holders specifically prohibits me from
offering them on CD.

Then again, that contract also prohibits me from offering the disks as a
"collection." However, just this week, we agreed to new terms that would
permit me to distribute all of the NAUG-On-Disks as a collection. So,
it's possible that the contract could be further amended.

Maybe we should take this to e-mail?
