    Going to +12V may increase volume; but, according to the IIe
schematic, it could damage a circuit which is connected to the output
(especially if the speaker is connected or disconnected with power ON).

    If the circuit (named "SA1") is some kind of OpAmp intended to supply
negative feedback, then, blowing it will not disable sound output-- in
fact, output volume would increase-- but it will degrade sound quality.

    For good, solid, Loud sound, check out the small amplifiers at Radio
Shack or a local surplus shop.
