Sounds like a bad modem or modem power supply to me. Electronics are the
#1 suspect when time and/or heat are involved. Cables (other than power)
dont get overloaded. They can get noisy or make (or not make) intermittant
connections but will be a constant thing. And unless your computer is
programmed to do some task in 1 hr increments, I wouldn't suspect software
either. I am assuming that you had a Zoom 96/24 Faxmodem previously that
worked ok with the cable and software.
