SCSI problems

I'm having some trouble with my hard drive and GS/OS. I'm using
an Apple HD40SC on my GS with a Rev. C SCSI card. There is a jumper on the
pins farthest to the rear of the card, and the two nearest the front edge
are bent together (settings when I bought the system several months ago).
When I try to boot sys 5.x or 6.x, the finder trys to tell me that I have
7 hard drives connected. The previous owner was using sys 4, and never
had these problems. Can anyone help me? My guess is that the jumpers
or the SCSI ID is wrong. There is a terminator on the chain.
