Faster online speed!

I've got a 28.8 on my Rom 3 now with which I use ProTERM.  I want to go 
faster.  If I purchase one of those serial cards -- is it the Turbo ASB, 
or something like that? -- will I see better performance?  I have heard 
that the card tops out at somewhere around 230kbps, however I have no 
idea if the GS can utilize that speed from the slot.  Has anyone 
improved their online speed over and above what a 28.8 can yield?
I am aware of ISDN lines, but can the GS take advantage of that?  I've 
also heard of a newer modem that functions at up to 33.4 kbps (I 
believe), but of course that is only useful if you are connecting 
to another modem that can do 33.4
