Do you mean you have a total of 16 lines that you are switching between ON
and OFF states? If so, then you might be able to use a 4->16 decoder, and
use the four annunciator outputs on the paddle port to choose a line, then
use the utility strobe to trigger it. Forget about using double-hi-res
graphics at the same time if you do that, though.
Another tactic might be to use a Super Serial Card (or other serial
interface) and develop a serial control bus of some sort...I think there
was a schematic for this kind of switching controller in a recent issue of
Radio World...I can see if I can dig it up.
It does seem kind of counter-productive though to use a serial interface
when you have access to the Apple's parallel I/O bus through the interface
slot...
