I think that has been done ... in fact I'm pretty certain. I have an
old article here somewhere by Matt "Life & Deatherage" Deatherage,
titled "Driving To Print" which shows how to do just that ... a simple
print driver that "prints" to a graphic file. I do not recall whether
anyone actually released the driver, though, and if so to which ftp
site.
