You are probably looking for "Kangaroo" from Brainstorm/Seven Hills Software
(sevenhills@aol.com). It adds a list of appliucations to the menu bar so you
can jump to another program by merely selecting it.
It works wonder when using The Manager.
There are definitely other programs as well. RunQ (the original program
selector that hasn't been updated for quite some time) comes to my mind. And
there are certainly other glues that do the trick.
