A couple of questions about my IIgs
Hi folks.
My recently-acquired IIgs is proving to be a bargain buy. I have a
ROM01 with the new Sirius RAM-GS (with 4Mb) card running GSOS 6.0.1
from a 330meg external drive. The drive is partitioned into 2 ProDOS
and 1 HFS partition (with the patched HFS.FST!)
Anyway, I have been looking around the net's A2 sites and have found
several animation files (I think they may have been 'PaintWorks', but
am not too sure). I would be interested in knowing if there is a way
of viewing these anims if I don't own the package they were created
with. Basically I am after a couple of neat anim demos to show to
a couple of friends (I already have some pretty good music demos, but
if anyone knows any really good ones, let me know!). Alternatively
is this package still sold?
I have a few questions on GS/OS that maybe someone can help with too:
I boot into ProDOS 8 (v2.0.3) and ProSel-8, then launch GSOS as and
when required (it's quicker this way when not using GSOS apps). Is
this likely to cause problems, or does the GSOS boot sequence cancel
any program which may be in memory (I assume it does).
I believe there is a 'MultiFinder' type of application available - can
anyone provide some info on this?
One annoying feature of GSOS is that if I have several windows over-
lapping and launch an app, when I return to GSOS the windows are
presented in 'reverse-overlap' order except for the very bottom one
which is brought to the top. This also slows down the screen update
as the deepest folder is drawn twice. Is there a way to stop this
or do I just put up with it?
Gripe mode off. :)
I'm really loving my IIgs. It's great and I can't wait to get an
accelerator for it. And GNO/ME. And GS/TCP. And a SS card....
This is *so* much more fun than my boring old 486 (which is fairly
useless these days). But then I'm biased, OK? ;)
