"Apple Adventure" port of Advent

Greetings:

I've recently been playing the Inform port of
Advent, and having been noting differences
between it and my memories of the "Apple
Adventure" which came with my Apple ][+ many
years ago.

Can anyone confirm my suspicion that the pirate
was not correctly implemented in "A.A."?  I
never saw him in that game, but he appears
frequently in the Inform port.

OTOH, I seem to recall a hint was given in AA
that helped explain how to explore the Dark
Room.  That hint does not seem to appear in
the Inform port.  Am I mistaken?  Did the
original Advent game have such a hint?
