I'm no copyright lawyer, but I imagine the writer retains the copyright
on his or her writings, even on USENET, and if anyone wants to reprint
it elsewhere, they must get the author's permission. In this case, II
Alive has simply made an arrangement with the author (Woz) that he will
not give such permission to any other print media outlet, which is a
perfectly legal agreement.

As the person who originally made the post: 'Birth of the Apple Computer - by WOZ' allow me to make a few points clear to everybody =
on all of this! I wrote to Steve Wozniak with some questions concerning another post that I read, which aroused my interest, from a=
nother news group 'comp.sys.be' sending him the attachment of that post from 'comp.sys.be' - for his reply, via email.
Steve replied with the content via email, which I posted, with his full consent. As the email reply and content was my property fro=
m Steve Wozniak and having his full consent to do with it as I wished, posting, converting to html - for web site interview html doc=
uments, etc. That is exactly what I did.
Should you care to go and review it, with a link to the original post that provoked me to write him asking for the facts of the matt=
er, please go to the following URL:
http://www.wco.com/~3d5d1wsw/swi.html
I, 'Charles Turley'(the receipient), not Steve Wozniak (the sender)
was contacted by a Rep. on behalf of II Alive asking me if I was interested in making an arrangement, to let II Alive print the emai=
l content (Interview - if you will!). I made a tentative agreement via an email response to that Rep. To date that agreement has n=
ot become
a contractual conclusion, as I've not yet reached any agreement or signed any documents giving II Alive any rights. That is all pen=
ding, at this time!
As I see it now, until a contractual and signed agreement, with reasonable payment is received by me from II Alive, all rights to th=
e content remain with me.
So, for those of you who have been concerned with all of these matters,
please be advised, at this point the post is still available to read from the Usenet groups I've posted it to and is also available =
for your review via the above mentioned URL, as an html document. I would also conclude that (at this time) I still retain all right=
s to my post and to my html document - in its interview format.
