Just wanted to throw in some thoughts. Lately it seems many important
II-related companies have been dropping like flies, and support continues
to shrink. It just plain doesn't look good. Yet things keep happening
to keep us going. SecondSight, GraphicWriter, Animasia, GNO, and even
all the software authors on the side continuing to develop great new
things for us to play with. Anybody out there who still pirates on the
II obviously doesn't care about the II. If there's one thing I've
learned by being here on c.s.a2, it's that there are honest hard working
human beings behind all these efforts... something you rarely see in the
PC/Mac world. These people actually talk to us! They're the ones who
make the II worth bragging about. :)
I'm currently not a GNO user, but I've seen it in action, and
it's blown me away. I will DEFINATELY purchase a GS/TCP-GNO/ME combo
package if and when it becomes available. Talk about a POWER BOOST!! I
mean, come on people. We're talking about a true internet connection on
an Apple II... no more dumb terminal here. This is the big one! And
think of all the great applications that will emerge from this one! The
machine WILL NOT DIE, thanks to the efforts of many, and that's a major
understatement. I send my best to Derek and Jawaid, and congratulate
them for what I KNOW will be a killer product.
'96 is definately the year for the big one. Let's be supportive,
people. Don't be stupid. In this market, stupid = suicide. Get it
through your heads.
