    $350 sounds a bit high; but, something above $300 is probably correct.
(If I get an exact quote, I'll let you know.)

    As for being better off with a 10/64 than a conversion-- a lot depends
upon the cost of getting a Zip/GS board you can upgrade and how much
messing around with hardware you enjoy. I like the 10/64 in our IIgs; but,
even with a 'store bought' board, it was necessary to fatten-up power
supply leads and motherboard traces.

    Easy, get the 8/16.

    One option you did not mention is the Zip/GS 9/32. (The 10/64 is not
all that much faster than the 9/32.)  I used a 9/32 for a couple of years
before upgrading. It is a reliable performer which delivers better than a
x3 speed improvement over an unaccelerated machine-- _very_ noticable! 
Price should run a good deal below the 10/64.
