I'd have preferred something where you can see tangible benefits,
such as a local church, school, refugee camp, or something
else. Sending money to groups that spend a heck of a lot of money on
politicians and self publicity is a waste.
Being able to get information on exactly how much of your dollar
given to an organization actually goes to what they claim to be doing,
and not administrative overhead is a good thing. Certain groups, 50%
of your $ is lost; others, I've heard it's less than 5. By that
measure, most governments are a bad thing to give money to, but we all
knew that anyways :)
