   I'm in the middle of tracking this bug down. Looks like some
weirdball interaction between the System 6.0.1 TextEdit and
FontManager toolsets, anyways. (Basically, TextEdit is calling an
_InstallWithStats within the DrawControls within the ContentDraw
update of the background window on the second _DoModalDialog by
_ChooseFont. That InstallWithStats blasts word at offset +$C4 within
the FontMgr's page to $FFFF, which is where it stores the upper word
of the control handle for the Plain checkbox. Click on Plain or
reference it in some way, and the system will start following garbage
pointers out to nowhere and have a spaz)

    As soon as I nail it down, a fix should be available.
