Swyft Card- What is it?

Hi, at school I'm the resident "Apple II expert", because I'm the only one who 
will touch them. :)  I was fiddling with some IIe's in the library and found 
one really souped-up one with everything on it.  One thing that it has in it 
is a "Swyft Card".  This is apperantly a replacement for the IIe's ROM.  Does 
anyone know what this is used for?  I can't seem to figure it out.  If I hit 
control+open apple+reset, I takes me to the IIe's normal ROM and I can run 
things as normal.  Also, during bootup, what is the key(s) you hit to go to 
BASIC?  Thanks for any help.
