Probably, you friend has nailed it. Try replacing the +5V, +12V, and
Gnd leads coming from the power supply with #12 guage or heavier wire.
Often, the IIgs power supply turns out to have enough juice; but, the
scrawny leads keep it from getting to the motherboard.
