    It has been asked before. Some years ago Paul Statt answered the
question in inCider. He suggested that the IIc should be set up to allow
better cooling-- e.g. prop up the cover, etc.-- and that plugging into an
uninterruptable power supply would be a good idea. Paul noted that they
had run a IIe (running a BBS) nearly continuously for a year with no
problem.

    Aside from avoiding memory loss during brown-outs and brief
shut-downs, the UPS will also provide protection from line spikes and
surges. Keeping the IIc interior closer to room temperature will avoid
excessive "drying" of plastic components (circuit boards, sockets, case,
...). 

    A IIc system will draw very little power, especially if the monitor is
turned ON only when someone is using the machine.
