Caltech Apple II Archive Closed

Some of you may have noticed, recently, that files have been piling up in
the "incoming" directory on ftp.cco.caltech.edu - in fact, I know at least
a couple of people have, since I've gotten e-mail from some of you. I
apologize for the fact that I have not cleaned out the archive since
October - it's because this is senior year, and it's rather hectic...
However, that's not the main reason I'm posting this, as you may have
gathered from the subject line.

The system administrator here at Caltech has requested that I trim the
archive down, from its normal 120+ megabytes of files to 25 megabytes or
less. I have tried to find a "good" way to do this, but at this point,
I've deleted everything I feel is "expendable" and it's still over 80
megabytes worth... I don't feel that a 25 megabyte archive would be worth
much to the Apple II community out there on the Internet, and it certainly
wouldn't be worth the time I would normally put into maintaining the
archive. So, effective immediately, I am closing the archive. Any sites
which have a mirror of the Caltech archive are, of course, welcome to keep
it, and I am keeping copies of all 120+ megabytes of files myself - In the
(possibly near, but probably not) future, when I have enough hard drive
space, I fully intend to revive the site, and I'll be sure to let
everybody know when I do... All that will be left on the site once I
finish with it today, however, will be a note saying it is closed and a
list of other Apple II ftp sites...

I'd like to thank everybody who sent me comments about the archive since I
took it over nearly 3 years ago - it's been a lot of fun, and I can't wait
to start it fresh... (and when I do, it'll be on _my_ machine, so nobody
can tell me when to cut the space requirements :)...
