	Many of us are devoted to the Apple II, now more than ever.  What 
has changed in the past few years is that prices have fallen so much that 
everything related to Apple II is a sheer bargain.  My hardware hacking 
has become more adventurous, to the extent that "hardware surgery" I 
would have been too cautious to try 5 years ago is now relatively free 
from financial risk.

	As an example, I have been installing manual-override switches in 
the write-protect circuitry of my Disk II drives, with fine results.  
This was worth a try with these drives now valued at about $10-$15 each; 
I would have been too cautious to try this when the drives were valued at 
$100 each.

	Of course, there are many great software programs available.  But 
its frustrating to try to track down shareware authors whose listed 
addresses on the docs were temporary and are now outdated.
