You need a drive capable of reading MFM disks (PC Disks & High
Density Disks). The Apple SuperDrive/SuperDrive Card combo would do it,
although I doubt you could find one, let alone justify the cost (about
the same as a decent hard drive).
Floptical Drives are another option. They can read 720k disks,
High Density disks, and the 20 meg format ones.
One last option, and one I probably would recommend (although
keep in mind I've never used one) is the BlueDisk controller. With this
($100 something) card, you can hook up IBM capatible disk drives to your
Apple //gs. And since PC drives are so inexpensive, it is pretty cost
effective. Keep in mind this not only gives you access to PC disks, but
Macintosh High Density disks and Apple II High Density disks (the later
probably aren't too common though).

Hey, you do know the FST is read-only right? There is a
ShareWare program (it is free when you purchase a bluedisk) that allows
you to not only read but to write to MS-DOS disks. It's a shell program
that is kinda like the DOS prompt. I've used it with my PC Transporter
disk drive and it does work.

Hey, the only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked.
